About Homme Plisse Issey Miyake
Homme Plissé Issey Miyake launched in 2013 as a menswear line built on garment pleating. It uses the method Issey Miyake developed for Pleats Please, his 1993 line for women. Miyake founded his Tokyo studio in 1970 and died in 2022. Each piece is cut and sewn first. Then it goes between layers of paper into a heat press, which sets the pleats. The clothes resist wrinkles, dry fast, stay light and are easy to wear. The pleats are set at a fixed width, so pieces mix easily with one another. The shapes are loose and boxy, some with graphic patterns. The label calls it everyday wear for a wide range of wearers.
