Purple Brand dates itself to 2018, though Cool Hunting gave 2017 when it spoke to a co founder in 2023. It began in Vancouver, started by a group of friends that included Luke Cosby and Rob Lo, and it now has a flagship in SoHo, New York.
It is known for stacked jeans, distressed finishes and small embellishments. The jeans go by style numbers: the P001 is the low rise skinny, the P005 the slim straight, the P011 the straight leg and the P018 the wide.
The P001 is cut close through the thigh and tapered to the ankle, in stretch denim of 98% cotton and 2% Lycra. Men's jeans run 28 to 42, and the chart is on the Purple Brand size page.
On the black resin wash, Purple's own page says, the denim carries a light resin coating. Cosby has said the people who make Purple's pieces are mostly in China and Italy.
On 13 October 2026 its jeans ran from HK$843 to HK$1,967 in waists 30 to 40, and its shirts from HK$500 to HK$1,827. Hoodies ran from HK$1,175 to HK$2,884 and jackets and coats from HK$1,400 to HK$4,019, and some pieces were marked down.
