Acne Studios
Acne Studios began in Stockholm, Sweden, in 1996. It grew out of ACNE, a creative collective working in graphic design, film, production and advertising. Its founders were Jonny Johansson, Mats Johansson, Jesper Kouthoofd and Tomas Skoging. The name first stood for Associated Computer Nerd Enterprises, and later for Ambition to Create Novel Expressions. In 1997 Jonny Johansson made 100 pairs of raw denim jeans with red stitching and gave them to friends and family. Today the label makes ready to wear, footwear, denim and accessories for men and women. Its collections focus on tailoring and on fabrics developed for the label. Johansson is still creative director, and in March 2026 he showed the fall 2026 collection in Paris.
