About MM6 Maison Margiela

Maison Margiela was founded in Paris in 1988 by the Belgian designer Martin Margiela and the designer and shop owner Jenny Meirens. It numbers its lines, a system it began in 1997.
Line 6 covers clothes, shoes, leather goods and accessories for women and men. Highsnobiety dates MM6 to 1997, as the easier to wear, lower priced side of the main collection, while Maison Margiela's own coding page gives line 6 an origin of 2004. It began regular runway shows in 2013, and fall 2022 was its first collection with its own menswear.
Maison Margiela is part of the OTB Group, and it names the four stitches and Replica among its signature ideas. The MM6 Japanese Bag folds into triangles, inspired by origami, with hidden press studs that let it change shape. Its Classic Medium is polyurethane with calf leather trim and a cotton lining, so it is not a leather bag.
