Men's Burberry
Thomas Burberry opened his own shop in Basingstoke, England, in 1856, when he was 21. In 1879 he brought in gabardine, a tough cloth that keeps out rain and still lets air through. It was patented in 1888, and polar explorers wore it, Ernest Shackleton among them. The trench coat dates from the First World War, when British officers wore Burberry coats in the trenches. The Equestrian Knight logo was adopted in 1901. The Burberry check has been in use since at least the 1920s, mainly as a trench coat lining. Daniel Lee has been chief creative officer since 2022. He showed the Summer 2027 collection in London on 21 September 2026.
